My testimony

In my two year of JC life, I have always been a slightly below average student. Under the influence of a playful group of friends in my class, we will always try to skip lectures and copy tutorials. As a result, I learnt very little from my daily work in school and I had to do last minute studying if any tests or exams are coming up. Furthermore, I had two CCAs, volleyball and AV club, which took up a lot my time and commitment. Eventually, at the end of my first year in JC, I decided to drop one subject, Economics, so as to concentrate on the rest of my subjects. However, even after dropping Economics, my grades did not improve much at all. For my Prelim exams, I was still scoring C, D, E grades.

Despite all this, I did not gave up hope on my A' level. I know that God is faithful and He said in His Word that He will let us be the head and not the tail, above and not beneath. So I began to trust in God as I was studying for my A' levels. I applied the law of seed time and harvest, which for my case was to study more to reap better results. During that period of time, I was walking very closely with God, depending on His anointing and strength to study intensively for long hours. My ever longest study hours clocked in a week was 60 hours. That is around 8.6 hours per day. Looking back from now, I wondered how did I do it. However it wasn't just me alone but God who helped me to achieve that.

When my A' level finally came, I did not feel very pressured or anxious about it because I have the peace of God with me. I remembered how I would pray to God prior to the start of every paper. It was as if I was preparing another chair for God to sit beside me during the exam. For some of my papers I could even sense God hinting me to correct careless mistakes or helping me to recall important key phrases that slipped of my mind.

I wasn't very optimistic to score very well for my A' levels because I know that it is very difficult to jump from C, D, E grades to some fantastic grades. I was happy enough to accept average grades as I know that the effort I put in throughout my JC life was incomparable to people who did consistent work throughout. I was just contented that He had helped me so much for my preparation of my A' levels. However we can never underestimate what God can do for us. When the A' level results was out, I was awarded with 3 As for my A' levels! Praise the Lord!

Indeed God's promises have came true to me and I am now able to glorify God for the miracle that He has done for me. So to all the students out there, I hope that my testimony would serve as an encouragement to you to never give up hope in your studies and in God.

"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the rewards of inheritance, for you serve the Lord Christ."
Colossians 3:23- 24

Spirit of Excellence

Proverbs 22:29 (TLB)
Do you know a hard-working man? He shall be successful and stand before kings!

There is a difference between Excellence and Perfectionist.
Perfectionist focus on the results, Excellence focus on the efforts.
Effort is something you can determine. Result is something that you cannot deteremine.
You cannot run to the teacher and ask for 100% of your score for your exams, but you can put in 100% efforts for your exams.
Don't value yourself based on your results, value yourself on how hard-working you are.
If you are hardworking, you are a person of excellence! =)
